The brand’s limited edition release in celebration of Valentine’s Day, Diptyque’s Rosa Mundi embodies that feeling when you’re walking hand-in-hand with you’re love and the first warm spring breeze hits your cheek after a long, cold winter. Expertly blending roses and soft powder, this candle exudes the freshness and rejuvenation that comes with the changing of seasons or a new romance, making anything seem possible.

Named for the mistress of Henry II, this fragrance captures all of its namesake’s sweetness, charm, and beauty. Rosamund Clifford, also known as Rosa Mundi (Latin for “rose of the world”), caught the attention of many during her life, inspiring songs, poems, and paintings. She was said to have been the embodiment of spring love itself, exuding grace in her every step.

Remembered for millennia following her passing, Rosamund became known as the “rose of the world” because she was famous for always smelling of roses. Like Rosamund herself, Diptyque’s Rosa Mundi smells of roses with a hint of powdery sweetness. I like to burn this candle while I’m working during the day, and again in the evening to relax.

With its soft fragrance, Rosa Mundi isn’t too overpowering. Instead, its even burn complements a sweet night at home with your love, reading romantic poetry to one another while sipping champagne and indulging in some delightful macarons.

Plus, the vessel is absolutely beautiful. The candle comes wrapped in an intricate green and floral paper created by wallpaper designer and restorer Antoinette Poisson. Each Valentine’s Day, Diptyque collaborates with a different artist to create a unique candle, and I feel like they really nailed it this year. The love story, the fresh roses, and the gorgeous vessel capture the essence of Valentine’s Day, wrapped in a sweet and pretty package—a fragrant bouquet of flowers to last all year long.
